If you vote against Obama for fear of this socialist concept, it just shows how partisan you are that you can't think for yourself. McCain is every bit the "socialist" Obama is, which I demonstrated  just two posts ago. But let's have another crack at it, as it appears, strikingly, not to sink in:

McCain Tackles Obama on "Spread the Wealth"

The McCain campaign apparently has a new theme this week: attacking Obama for wanting to "spread the wealth." But it is not clear what that really means. Many Republicans have bitterly opposed the federal income tax since the 16th amendment was passed in 1913. Is McCain going to repeal the federal income tax? If so, how does he plan to finance the government? Or does he mean that the difference between the top rate of 39.6% under Bill Clinton and the top rate of 36% under George Bush is the difference between communism and capitalism? The purpose of the progressive federal income tax is to spread the wealth. That Democrats have supported a progressive income tax for decades is hardly news. Does McCain want to keep the tax but make it a flat tax (a la Steve Forbes)? No word on this. It seems this is just another desperate attempt to attack Obama rather than being a serious policy proposal for tax reform and it comes awfully late in the game. If McCain wanted to run on a platform of a flat tax, he certainly has had the opportunity, but until now he didn't bring up the subject.

McCain indeed favors the progressive tax. What a socialist. It wasn't a new idea 80 years ago when the US was using it. It's not a new idea now. I repeat, a 3% TAX HIKE ON THE RICH IS NOT SOCIALISM, and your school teachers should be fired.

In fact, one of the things to Reagan's great credit was his work on the Earned Income Tax Credit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earned_income_tax_credit

Enacted in 1975, the initially modest EIC has been expanded by tax legislation on a number of occasions, including the more widely-publicized Reagan EIC expansion of 1986. The EIC was further expanded in 1990, 1993, and 2001 regardless of whether the act in general raised taxes (1990, 1993), lowered taxes (2001), or eliminated other deductions and credits (1986). Today, the EITC is one of the largest anti-poverty tools in the United States (despite the fact that most income measures, including the poverty rate, do not account for the credit), and enjoys broad bipartisan support.

The republicans were fine with that then, but when it comes to Obama, "ooooooh, he's a scary socialist! Don't vote for him!" The socialist attack is pure, blissful ignorance, a staple of the republican party. It is McCain that would make it worse. There is not the lesser of two evils. There is just one evil, and it's the campaign that is rapidly sinking.

Edit - As for that article, the man's pushing some strong buttons. He some how comes to the conclusion that voting McCain is racist. That there's no way to possibly vote for him without being racist. That's both arrogant and ignorant. And to state that that's the case only incites the base more about the topic, because they'll be swallowed up in it and some will believe it. And wouldn't you know it, the discussion of race as a factor of voting becomes more of an issue than it does less of one. Huh, who would have thunk it?

Also, I can't wait to have a filibuster-proof majority to ram it down the throats of these republicans that just scream "doom." The associations and taxes I've already addressed, and they are non-issues, or in the case of taxes, work in Obama's favor.

Actually, if we want to look at associations, McCain/Palin have a few. Though I'm sure these links will remain unclicked:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/vp/ ... 6#27057346
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/vp/ ... 1#27092691

Yes, his tax policy reflects my philosophy. He mentions various "lies" about Obama's plan. It's a plan, not a lie. I think the author should be well aware that Obama can't write the legislation he signs into law. And making assumptions about Obama's plan, in SPITE of Obama's plan is the real lie. His arguments carry no weight. Just mindless dribble.

Oooooh, I can't wait. 8 long years. How I can't wait.

Some last minute literature and food for thought - http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008 ... equel.html

Anyone still on the fence or choosing their candidate simply because they're more afraid of the other candidate would be wise to read through it and see the full story, including the many related links within.

And regardless of your political affiliation, do the country a favor tomorrow and vote. Participate and become engaged.
